do the ombre!

Hey friends!

Guess what?! I FINALLY got my hurr did. I did the ombre (faded hair color), celebrity trend of 2011. I gotta admit, the first time I heard of this trend I was thinking, "That's kinda weird". But what can I say...it eventually grew on me. I know I'm way behind on the trend but that's okay...I don't always follow timelines or current trends. ha

So I did it! I dyed my hair for the first time by myself. Scary! I never really dyed my hair and I am too cheap to do it professionally. So this was a pretty big deal for me. But I wasn't too worried because I figured I could always dye it back or cut off the ends if it's messed up. And I had good training from my trustee youtube friends like this one here. hehe. And I don't remember the last time I got a haircut (probably over 6 months...I know, pretty bad huh?), so I don't care about damaging my already dead ends.

In order to get this effect bleaching is the only way to go. I didn't want to go too drastic and bleach blonde, so I stuck with more subtle shades that blend better with my jet-black hair. Hmm...I don't know...maybe I'll do it again and go lighter. heh heh. But I'm happy with the results and happy to have a change. Anyways, enough of my ramblings...

So here it is...

What do ya'll think? Should I go lighter?

beach bum

These pictures are from one of the times we went to the beach this summer. We went to Grand Beach, which is apparently one of the top ten beaches in North America. I was actually surprised when I found that out. It's a nice beach, but I didn't think it was THAT nice. And it's in Manitoba...one of the coldest places in Canada. But I guess we do have pretty nice summers. Anyways, I LOVE going to the beach. It's one of my favourite things to do. And of course we hit up the little shops. heh heh. I love island jewelry and summer dresses. What's your favourite thing to do in the summertime?
This bathing suit is from Target. I was so excited when I found it because I had a bathing suit just like this when I was a kid with the zipper and everything. and neon colours are my favourite!

Oh I'm going to miss those beach bum days...

hot or cold?

Tis the season where it's hard to know what to wear. You know what I mean? Sometimes it's hot and sometimes it's cold. It's the transition phase between summer and fall. I don't know about you but it's not the funnest dressing for this type of weather. I thought I'd share some inspiration from Need Supply Co. on how to dress for this awkward in-between season. Some basics include button-ups, skinnies, light knit sweaters, maxies, harem pants and a nice pair of pumps. Personally I'm still dressing summerish while adding a beanie or scarf or blazer/leather jacket and a pair of ankle boots. What are your solutions? Good luck my friends!

galaxy nails

photos: emeraldsparkled, llymlrs

Here is another awesome {referred} tutorial I found and I would like to share. I have just recently been getting into painting my nails and have found that it is a fun way to be creative and change things up.

This tutorial is on the galaxy nail art. I don't know if you have followed the galaxy trend...but it has been quite the hype these days. I don't think I'm bold enough to wear galaxy clothes...but I like the idea as a nail design. Are you a fan of galaxy prints? So anyways, here is the tutorial by Andrea from the youtube channel, Andrea's Choice. She has nice tutorials and a fun personality. Galaxy nails are actually super easy to do at home! Go ahead 'n give it a try!

reunited and it feels so good

Sorry about the tardiness of this post. My family went to the water park by our place. We wanted to try it out for the kids but they were a lil scared of the water. But it was still fun to lounge around the pool and enjoy the beautiful weather. Annie and James {and their bebes, Milan and Julien} just moved back from Montreal after about 3 years and we're SO happy to have them back! There's nothing like reuniting with family. Aren't these kids so cute?! I just love 'em!

a day at the fair

My siblings and I went to the fair in a little town called Niverville. I love going the fair. We didn't end up going on any rides but it was just fun to walk around, eat tasty food, play games and look at the market. Oh So Lovely Vintage had their boutique set up in their cute little trailer. Everything was totally authentic and I loove vintage. I loved all their cute dresses and accessories. And it's super cool because they are from my home town Winnipeg! We ended the day with a full on concert and watched the fireworks. It was a day well spent :)
