cousins part I

I got to do a shoot with my cousins Joy and Melanie. It was so fun. I always wanted to do a shoot with them. Joy is leaving to serve an 18 month mission for our church. So we thought it would be nice to take some pictures before she left.

Joy is wearing what we call the "Alexa Chung" dress because she models this dress for Vera Wang. We're both in love with her and went crazy when we saw this dress. And Melanie is wearing another "Alexa" dress from Vera Moda. It's so cute and there's a pretty collar that's hiding.  And they were both on sale! Great finds I must say.

My sister-in-law Sarah did the shoot for us. Thank you Sarah, they look lovely :)

STYLE FILE | Shumsky Sisters

Introducing Stefanie {left} and Kaylene {right} Shumsky. They're sisters and they're my sisters-in-law {well technically sisters of my sister-in-law}. This is what they wore to church on Sunday. They both love dressing up and love to thrift shop. Here's a mini Q&A:

{Kaylene}
....
How would you describe your style? Anything I like or anything that I'm comfortable in.

What are your favorite pieces in your closet right now? My mustard colored pants from Forever 21 and a grey blazer I got from Costa Blanca.

What are your favorite trends? French braids, solid nail polish, and bows.

{Stefanie}

How would you describe your style? Urban 50's
///
What are your favorite accessories? Lip gloss, pearl ring, leopard clutch, watches, and nail polish.
///
What are your favorite trends? I don't even know how to answer that. But I really am into the modern East Indian look...like the loose pants with tight bottoms and the fun bangles.

Happy Christmas

Gifted Fur Hat/ Thrifted Dress and Belt/ F21 Watch/ Springs Shoes
                                                                                         photos by sophia

I can’t believe it’s already that time of the year! I’m so happy and excited. I love the Christmas spirit, the time to especially cherish Christ and His life, the time to think of others, and the time to be with family. I’ve been listening to Christmas music like crazy and eating tons of chocolate and other goodies :)

This is my festive inspired outfit. I’ve been wanting to use this fur hat that my sister, Sarah, gave me for my birthday last year. She found it thrifting and I love it! I’ll be sure to stay warm with that one on my head. and I think it's cute paired with a dress.

And as you can probably tell, my sister, Sophia is back for the holidays!!! Wahoo!  I’m so happy to have her here and to be able to spend Christmas and New Years together. Now our family is complete. She is studying photography in Calgary, Alberta and we are planning to do a whole lotta shoots. I’m so excited!

I hope you all have an enjoyable holiday and get to spend time with your loved ones. Happy Christmas!

much love,
sherri

JOY to the world

 Urban Outfitters Fox Cardigan & Shoes/ Forever 21 Necklace

 Value Village H&M Dress/ Zellers Shoes/ Forever 21 Gold Watch

Meet Joy. She is my cousin and one of my BFFs. If you know us...you know we can spend literally hours talking. haha. I LOVE her style. I begged her if I could share her style with ya'll because I love it so much. She describes herself as a marty bum (which we defined as a 'stylish' bum). She loves grunge, comfortable and unique pieces. and her favorite season for fashion is fall. Isn't her fox cardigan so cute?!

This is what we wore to church. I was so excited when I found this H&M dress from Value Village. It seemed like it was brand new and I was surprised because we don't have H&M in Winnipeg {I know sad right?}. Great find I must say!

ps. Don't forget to check out my first giveaway right hurr!

it just takes a cupcake to make your day

this is my 'can't wait to eat this cupcake' face

I had quite the fun filled weekend...

- My cousin Joy got me this cute oreo cupcake from a bakery called Sweet Impressions. She just discovered it and I can't wait to go! We are bakery buddies...hehe. So sweet...thanks girl! It was so tasty and it made my day :)

- We celebrated my friend Stefanie's birthday. We ate at Don Pedros, a sweet Mexican restaurant. Finally Winnipeg has Mexican joints!

-I went with my good friend Toya to a Jazz club. I've never been and it was fabulous. I never realized we had such cool spots like this in Winnipeg. They had a band playing and the girl's voice was really nice. I love jazz and it was so cozy and relaxing. I really enjoyed it. It will definitely be our new hang out spot.

-We had a Relief Society fashion party. My friend Jakee taught us about hair and how to treat it. It was so informative and made me realize that I need to take better care of my hair. And I shared a little about fashion, which was so fun for me. It was a great activity.

- On Sunday I went to church and it was so good. A sister spoke about trusting in God, being positive, and never giving up. It was just what I needed. and I got to teach Relief Society, which I always enjoy doing.

- Me and my mom put up the Christmas tree! It's so fun decorating the tree. There's something about Christmas trees...they're so mesmorizing and I can just sit and watch for hours. I love it. So excited for the season!

my first bow

It has been a while since I have sewed anything and recently my good friend Annie asked me to teach her how to sew. It has motivated me to sew again and it feels great. So we've been trying to have weekly sewing sessions, which have been a lot of fun. Plus I have been meaning to sew so I can get my shop going and re-sharpen my skills. So here is the first bow I made. It was so fun to make and I am going to make more for my Marty Shop that will be opening soon. I know that I said it will be opening soon a long time ago...but it is under works and WILL be happening. For reals...I can't wait to get it going!

By the by....isn't my model so cute? This is my niece Andi Elise. She's the only bebe in the family right now. I just LOVE her! She's so cute and funny. She is one year old and growing so fast and learning new things everyday. She just started learning how to talk and sing and I'm still not used to it! She makes me happy :)

My sister Sarah and I got ready for a friend's wedding social. It's always fun getting ready together. I played the stylist and I did my sister's hair, makeup, and outfit. It was SO fun for me...teehee. Isn't she so pretty?! She is one stylish mom and I've always told her growing up that she could be a model...although she doesn't believe me. And yes, she is expecting her second. I'm so so excited to have another baby in the family!!

The social was a lot of fun and it was good to see family and friends. Congrats Meryelle and Vincent!

p.s. I know there's a lot of different views on how to wear leggings. For me, my rule of thumb is as long as it covers your bottom...you're good to go.
