fur hat collection

I have a number of fur hats in my closet so I thought I'd share. Most of these are gifts and thrifted. I hate to admit but
sometimes I'm shy to wear them because of their boldness. But hey I'm Canadian so I should sport them to stay warm!

Which one is your favorite look?
Ps. What do you think of the darker lip? Have you tried it?

Last year I found this cocoon coat at the thrift store and almost fell in love. I was searching for a coat just like this but I say 'almost' because I wasn't too keen on the color. I had something else in mind. I decided to make the purchase anyway because it was such a good deal and I loved the fit of it. Now it has grown on me and I've come to love it! I'm so glad I didn't give up this treasure and it so happens to be an 'in' color right now, which is always a plus. Thrifted treasure hunting seriously is my favorite. I could totally do it for a living! It's exciting and you're always bound to find something unique, cool, interesting.

I also jumped on the 'wear sporty sneakers with chic outfits' bandwagon and finally got a classic black pair of free runs. They are comfortable (of course) and go with pretty much anything in my books. I'm excited to wear them out. The sporty chic trend is a current obsession for me and I think it will be for a while.

On another note, my other new favorite accessory is this gold necklace that my sister got for me for Christmas. She got it from Oak and Fort. Since moving to Edmonton, it's become one of my favorite stores and it's surprisingly affordable. I love all of their jewelry pieces and admire their delicacy and simplicity. They're definitely something you can wear with anything and have become my go-to accessories.

Have you had this too where you find something you didn't quite like at first but have come to love?
I'd love to hear your stories and how you made it work!

winter wonderland

photos by Sophia Cardona

Ahoy from Canada! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was chill, spent mostly with my sister. This was our first Christmas away from home. We got invited to our friends’ for dinner and it was so nice to be included in their family festivities. And thanks to facetime we were still able to see all of our cute nieces and nephews and be with our family in a way.
It's so funny sometimes trying to take photos as a blogger because it's so cold outside. My sister and I tried taking photos yesterday but it was way too cold. You know when you have a shower and the water is so cold that you have to catch your breath? That's how I felt, haha. But we braved the cold and took photos anyway - the lighting is always best outside! Speaking of winter weather, my current obsession is cocoon coats. I love baggy silhouettes. It's so effortless and cool. Also, I'm loving a touch of sporty spice in my outfits. I didn't think I was much of a trendy person but I'm loving this one. I guess comfort is my game.

new blue coat

So maybe it isn't a brand new coat but it's she is new to me :) Finding pea coats in the thrift market is my latest and greatest discovery! I've been looking for a camel colored one but I only found this cobalt blue one that fit me (my arms are really short and I'm really short in general). It wasn't the color I had in mind but I think it's fun and different. I'm still on the hunt for camel but seriously there is a great selection of coats. Leopard and fur coats are also on my wishlist heh. Also another tip is to for sure go on 50% off day. Coats are more pricey in the thrift store but you save loads. Pea coats in retail can costs hundreds and mine was only $15! Great bargain indeed.

ps. I'm so stoked I finally got to do a shoot with my sister Sophia, one of my favorite photographers.  It's been a while. Please check out her amazing photography on her blog here.

sunday dress

This is what I wore to church. I was inspired by madewell, pretty much one of my ultimate favorite stores. I love their easy cool style. By the way that is one of my techniques for putting an outfit together or styling myself. I think of a store that I like and think how they would wear something. Just a tip if you're stumped. I was a little stumped on how to wear this cobalt blue metallic skirt and it helped.  Also I just got this little triangle necklace and it's been my neck charm these days. I wish you can see it better in detail but my photos are a lil blurry.

white blouse

Here's another outfit with my new platforms. I found this silk blouse while thrifting during 50% off day at Value Village...my favorite day. I mentioned earlier in this video that I may want to alter it but I tried it on again and rolled the sleeves up {great technique by the way} and found it was wearable. I love how this shirt is a little oversized and tapers in the back. The white button up is definitely a classic.

borrowed

It's been beautiful outside and I'm lovin it. My sweet sister Sophia came to visit this weekend and it's so fun having her here. She's one of my BFFs. You may have noticed the photos are better quality...thanks to her :) I haven't taken as many outfits as I'd like because of lack of a photographer. This lovely number is from my mom's closet and I wore it to church. Gotta love her closet. And even my nude patent heels are borrowed from my sister. I feel like I was dressed in designer. thanks mi familia!
