on the move

I just moved to Edmonton, Alberta. This is a big move for me because I've never lived on my own before with the exception of my church mission. I am 25 and apparently it's the average age females move out. I thought that was funny because I fit the stat..ha. Anyways, I just felt like I needed a change and wanted to try something new. It's not a crazy foreign place but it's a much bigger city and there are a lot more things to do and explore. I also feel like I need to learn to be more independent and I want to take this time to work on myself and have a fresh start. This will be good for me and I'm excited to share my new adventures with you. But I will definitely miss my family and friends...so glad there's skype! So I will be MIA for a few days because of the move. Let me know if you have any tips for living on your own and in a new city. Wish me luck on this new adventure!

happy easter

I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter weekend! I got to go to the temple with my family and it was beautiful. I'm so grateful for Jesus Christ and for his sacrifice for us. I know that he lived, that he died, and that he lives again. I know that because of this we too will live again and have the chance to be with our families forever. What a wonderful blessing. I'm so grateful for Christ's love and I am eternally grateful for him.

birthday festivities

I celebrated my birthday on Monday. I turned the big two-five! So weird...I still feel very much like a kid. As you can see I got two beautiful cakes for my birthday {no matter how old we are we still have cake}. The purple cake is from my mom, filipino style and the other one my sister made, coconut vanilla pudding cake. So good. I celebrated it twice -- one with friends and one with the family. Birthdays are a great excuse to have get togethers. I might even have a third celebration this week and go to a zumba black light party at the gym. heheh.

So since I haven't shared with you goals for 2012, I'll share with you some of my goals for my 25th year...

1. have a {decent} scripture study everyday
2. keep a daily journal {maybe online}
3. be a workout girl and exercise 5 times a week
4. sleep early/wake early
5. clean sweep my room and maintain it
6. be on time for things...break my late habit
7. open my online shop
8. establish myself - in career and location

...and many others but these are the main ones.

oh and I got my haircut. I've been planning to cut it for a while because I've had long hair for forever and wanted to try going short. My plan is to go gradually shorter and try different styles along the way. Should be fun :)

chambray look no. 2

Here's another way to style your classic chambray shirt. A simple tie in the front changes up the look and makes it more original. It's also a great modest-cover up for over a sleeveless dress or top! I styled it like this in another outfit.

hat: le chataeu
chambray button up: thrifted
skirt: forever 21
shoes: springs
ring: pacsun

On another note, here's some shots from valentines. You bes believe I went out with my girls again. We dressed up, went shopping at the mall, watched 'The Vow', and got dessert at Moxies. I say it was a day well spent and filled with lots oh love.

1. surprised by some chocolate goods from my sweet sweet mom. love her.
2. a flower crown that I made to make myself feel pretty..heh
3. did my nails with little hearts.
4. white chocolate brownie (soo good).

skate

Surprisingly, being from Canada I've only skated a few times. It's actually pretty fun! Since we've had a pretty mild winter the ice is too thin to skate along the river. But they do have an outdoor skating rink at the Forks with a disco ball and some sweet jams playing. The only recommendation I have is to make sure you have good skates because my rented ones were cramping my feet. I went with a my sister, cousin, and a couple of friends. Afterwards we enjoyed some tim tam slams (an Australian tradition)... if ya'll haven't tried it, you gotsta! and if you're a chocolate lover like myself, it's a definite must! It's so good.

By the by...I'm guest posting at Love Notes by Lauryn today and giving a lil blog intro. Check it out here!

it just takes a cupcake to make your day

this is my 'can't wait to eat this cupcake' face

I had quite the fun filled weekend...

- My cousin Joy got me this cute oreo cupcake from a bakery called Sweet Impressions. She just discovered it and I can't wait to go! We are bakery buddies...hehe. So sweet...thanks girl! It was so tasty and it made my day :)

- We celebrated my friend Stefanie's birthday. We ate at Don Pedros, a sweet Mexican restaurant. Finally Winnipeg has Mexican joints!

-I went with my good friend Toya to a Jazz club. I've never been and it was fabulous. I never realized we had such cool spots like this in Winnipeg. They had a band playing and the girl's voice was really nice. I love jazz and it was so cozy and relaxing. I really enjoyed it. It will definitely be our new hang out spot.

-We had a Relief Society fashion party. My friend Jakee taught us about hair and how to treat it. It was so informative and made me realize that I need to take better care of my hair. And I shared a little about fashion, which was so fun for me. It was a great activity.

- On Sunday I went to church and it was so good. A sister spoke about trusting in God, being positive, and never giving up. It was just what I needed. and I got to teach Relief Society, which I always enjoy doing.

- Me and my mom put up the Christmas tree! It's so fun decorating the tree. There's something about Christmas trees...they're so mesmorizing and I can just sit and watch for hours. I love it. So excited for the season!

i love to see the temple

We went on a temple trip with my church. Our closest temple is Regina, Saskatchewan, which is a 6 hour road trip. It is a far drive but it's totally worth it and it's always fun road trippin'. I love going to the temple. It definitely feels like heaven on earth and one of the most peaceful places I've ever been. I'm so grateful that we were able to go and that my good friends were able to come. It brought me so much joy to be there with them.

I like to dress nicely when I go to the temple to show respect and because it is a sacred and special place to me. So I always like to wear a dress when I go. Can't wait until the next temple trip!

my amazing weekend

My family and I took a roadtrip down to Utah for the Semi-Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the beginning of this month. This is a time where we can listen to our prophet and other inspired leaders of the church, which is broadcasted worldwide. I LOVE conference! It's definitely one of my favorite times of the year. I am so grateful for their uplifting and inspiring messages. It always gives me a huge boost and I recieve answers to my questions. This was also my first time to attend conference live at the conference center in Salt Lake City, Utah. It has always been my dream to go...and it finally came true! It was an amazing experience and it was so neat to see thousands of people gathered together for this special occasion. Walking around temple square was a heavenly peaceful feeling and it is an experience that I recommend to everyone.

Visit here to listen/watch/read the addresses given in General Conference.

I went to my Canada Toronto East Mission Reunion and it was SO good to see everyone! Another sister and I did an ancient hawaiian dance for the talent show we had. It was my dream come true...to be an island girl and do hula. So fun. Thank you President and Sister Eyre for an amazing reunion. You're the greatest. Love you all!
